Sitaraman Shankar has Hindustan Times as Deputy Managing Editor from July 2, 2012. He will be reporting to Sanjoy Narayan, Editor-in-Chief. He will be operational head of HT's Delhi edition and National Editor in charge of outstation bureaus. He will also have an oversight on all news desks – front page, Metro Nation, sport and business.

For the record, Sudeep Mukhia had recently put in his papers as Resident Editor of HT Delhi.

Besides overseeing the flagship Delhi edition of HT, Shankar will have the mandate to ensure an improvement of the online and digital content of Hindustan Times generated by the Delhi team of news reporters and writers as well as for managing integration of the bureaus with overall online strategy. With respect to the Delhi edition, Shankar will be entrusted with ensuring quality control and training and meeting targets related to quality and readership in terms of reader research and other metrics that are used to measure HT Delhi's reader appeal, loyalty and preferences.

Shankar is a journalism graduate from University of Westminster and has an experience of over 18 years in national and international media with exposure to editorial leadership. He has covered a range of assignments in business, economics and politics. He has worked for 11 years with Thomson Reuters where, in his last assignment, he was heading the Middle East and North African markets. Prior to Thomson Reuters, Shankar worked for The Economic Times in Mumbai.

In another appointment, Rishi Khanna has joined the Circulation Sales function at HT Delhi and will be heading the Trade Marketing vertical. Khanna has over 11 years of experience in sales and marketing. He has worked in organisations such as Pidilite and Agro Tech Foods (ITC). His last assignment was with Cadbury's Kraft in Mumbai, where he was heading Customer Marketing for brands like Oreo and Tang.
