Arumugam is parting ways after a 13-year stint with the agency, and is set to join Google India as VP - Agency & Advertiser Relationships

In a surprise development over the weekend, Punitha Arumugam, Group CEO of Madison Media, has resigned after a 13-year stint at the agency. At the same time, D Sriram will soon be joining Madison Media as Consulting Director.
Sources close to the development have confirmed both the news. Arumugam is serving her notice period lasting till March end. According to sources, she is slated to join Google India as Vice-President, Agency & Advertiser Relationships.
When contacted regarding Arumugam’s replacement, Lara Balsara said that no decision had been taken yet, “but we hope to have somebody soon”. She also mentioned that Madison’s first Media Director, Sriram, is back at the agency after his stints with Starcom Media Vest Group and Carat Media. He will continue to be based in Singapore.
Sriram's 21-year career in the industry has taken him all across Asia, working in China, India, Hong Kong, and Singapore. At Starcom MediaVest, he rose to become APAC head, based in Singapore. He subsequently became Carat’s Chief Operating Officer, China.
Arumugam, who had joined Madison as Media Services Director and rising to the position of Group CEO, has played a key role in the growth of the agency. She has handled clients like Bharti Airtel, General Motors, Essel Group, ITC, TVS, Tata Tea, Cadbury, Asian Paints and Marico during her long stint. She had worked with O&M and Lintas in Chennai/Bangalore before joining Madison in January 1999. In 2003, Arumugam became the CEO of Madison Media West.
