Entries deadline extended for NYF Radio Program & Promotion Awards 2012

The final deadline for the 2012 New York Festivals Radio Program & Promotion Awards has been extended to April 2

The 2012 New York Festivals Radio Program & Promotion Awards has extended the deadline for entries to April 2, 2012, for those radio stations which missed the first deadline of March 19, 2012. NYF had announced its official call for entries starting January 9, 2012.

Established in 1982, the competition honours the most innovative work in radio broadcasting, with entries from radio stations, networks, and independent producers from around the globe.

The New York Festivals Radio Program & Promotion Awards attracts several entries from Indian radio stations also. Last year 92.7 BIG FM got 8 nominations while Fever 104 FM and Radio Mango were nominated in 2 categories each. Radio Mirchi and My FM too got one nomination each in 2011.

New York Festival had announced several new initiatives for 2012 New York Festivals Radio Program & Promotion Awards. There are new categories for Program Open, Best Regularly Scheduled Sports Program, Best Sports Special, Sports & Recreation, Environment & Ecology, and Best Student Documentary. On Air Station Contests are now eligible in the Special Event category. The Podcast group includes two new categories: Sports & Recreation and Culture & The Arts.

New York Festivals continually monitors trends in worldwide programming in the broadcast industry and introduces new categories designed to showcase those emerging industry trends. Current category groups include News Programs, News Reports/Features, Satellite Radio, Information/Documentary, Entertainment, Talk Programs, On-Air Talent, Craft & Technique, Programming Format, Morning Drive Programming, Promotion Spots, IDs, Audio Podcasts, and Student categories.

New York Festivals Radio Program & Promotion Awards Grand Jury enlists jurists from all over the world, representing some of the most recognisable voices and captivating programming producers in the industry.  Entries are judged on production values, organisation, presentation of information, creativity, and use of the medium.

The winners will be honoured on June 18, 2012, at a ceremony at Manhattan Penthouse in New York City.
