publive-imageTaking forward the theme from its 'Bech de' campaign aired in June last year, the free online classifieds site, OLX, is back with its new commercials. The films titled 'Grandfather' and 'Baby cot', conceived by Saatchi & Saatchi, ride on the idea of 'everything sells for a price'.

Interestingly, the current commercials on air are a sequel to the earlier TVCs where the younger brother convinces the elder one to sell his old bike and then they collectively pester their father to sell off his desktop. As a natural progression, in the new TVC the two brothers and the father get their grandfather to part with his cherished old car.

The second commercial shows another leap in terms of the elder brother playing a father to a baby. The younger brother, again acting as an instigator, comments on the lack of space in the house with the baby's arrival. And the solution to this grave problem comes naturally to him with a few clicks on OLX leading to the old furniture being replaced by a baby cot and other things.

Explaining the rationale for retaining the family saga story track in the commercials, Ramanuj Shastry, National Creative Director, Saatchi & Saatchi, said “Not going in for so-called fresh situations to bring newness to a campaign and keeping the narrative within a family was a decision we didn't have to think twice about. That aside, it was a tremendous feeling to have a seasoned actor like Ramesh Deo holding in our latest script.”

Amarjit Batra, Country Head, OLX India, said, “Our core value proposition of Individuals using OLX to sell personal goods that they don't need or use comes out beautifully from these new TV ads. The use of the same cast in all the films implies the huge need in every Indian family to solve their daily problems of buying, selling products and services locally. With OLX they simply have to tell their friends and relatives to 'Bech De.'“

The commercials have been directed by Rajesh Krishnan and the production house is Soda Films.
