Grey Delhi ropes in Uddalak Gupta as ECD

He will be Joint Creative Head at Delhi with Amit Shankar

Grey has strengthened its creative team further with the appointment of Uddalak Gupta as Executive Creative Director (Copy) and Joint Creative Head at Delhi. Grey Delhi office is growing exponentially and Uddalak Gupta has been brought in as Amit Shankar’s Copy Partner.

On his appointment, Uddalak said, “We want to be a rock band who make their own music and get heard. There’s lots of energy here and good vibes. I come in as rhythm guitar and backing vocals. It’s also a chance to get it cooking with my old mate Amit Shankar. Thanks to Amit Akali and Malvika Mehra for giving it a shout. You’ll hear from us.”

The last year has seen great action at Grey Delhi with the agency picking up new businesses like Honda, Fuji, Nat Geo, Fox Traveler and Mankind, launching brands like Honda Brio and picking up awards at Cannes. According to Amit Akali, Sr. Vice President and Joint NCD ‘Amit Shankar has been one of our best hires at Grey. Under him the Delhi team has grown from a 5 member team to a 17 member one and picked up both awards and businesses. With UG coming in as Amit’s partner, we hope to take the Grey Delhi creative offering to the next level’ Malvika Mehra, Sr. Vice President and Jt. UG (as he is commonly known) has nearly two decades of experience, during which he’s explored the cities of Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi and left his tracks in agencies like Contract, Equus Red Cell and Ogilvy & Mather.

He has worked on numerous categories and brands: Automotive (Honda Motorcycles & Scooters, Daewoo Motors), Aviation (SpiceJet), Media (The Indian Express, The Telegraph, India Today), Computers (NIIT, HCL, Oracle), Sport (Ten Network, ESPN), Hospitality (InterContinental), Finance (Max New York Life), Personal Care (Dabur) and Mobile Telephony (Spice Telecom), among others. Apart from national awards like the Abby, CAG and 3As of I, he has also collaborated on campaigns that won a Spikes Asia Gold and two Cannes Finalists in 2011 (JK Tyre), two Cannes Silvers in 2008 (Children of the World) and a One Show Design Merit.
