publive-imageThe fifth Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF), a 46-day annual event, is scheduled to be held from December 1, 2011 to January 15, 2012. Many leading brands are lining up to associate themselves with the shopping festival. Crayons Advertising is handling the creative and media duties for Kerala Shopping Festival. The festival, which has become Asia's largest shopping festival, is open to the marketers for sponsorships.

The fifth GKSF is likely to witness around 85 lakh visitors from India and 6 lakh visitors from abroad, of which almost 10-20 lakh visitors will come from the NCR itself. "Gurgaon has the headquarters of some of the best textile, FMCG, sportswear and home appliance companies. We are, therefore, inviting the Gurgaon companies to participate in our festival," said Ratan Kelkar, Director, GKSF.

The festival is expected to get an investment of Rs 50 crore from the Kerala government, and almost 7,000 retail outlets are expected to participate. The shopping festival first started in 2007. The festival is spread over a total area of 38,863 sq km. GKSF will also introduce five exhibition hubs at Kozhikode, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur. The festival also includes assured gifts worth anywhere between Rs 100 to Rs 10,000.

Kelkar said, “GKSF since the past four years has shown multi-fold growth and has emerged as a key pillar in repositioning Kerala as a major shopping and tourism destination. This time around, visitors will get a chance to get involved in a series of sports activities. At the same time, we are also promoting Kerala's local industries and festivals such as the Bamboo Festival and Spices Festivals. We are also in talks with various hoteliers and airlines to come out with special discounts and packages to attract visitors and we expect to finalise our hospitality and airline partner by the end of this month.”
