Grand opening for KBC 2011 in 3 metros

KBC-5 helps Sony become No.1 channel in 3 cities according to TAM mid-week data.

The charisma of Amitabh Bachchan has once again delivered a grand opening for Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). According to TAM Mid-week data for week 34, the show has opened at 5.24 TVR in 3 metro cities - Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. With this, KBC-5 has become the first non-fiction show to open above 5 TVR this year on any Hindi GEC.

Also, the grand opening of KBC 2011 has helped Sony become No.1 channel in these 3 cities. Sony had acquired the 3rd spot by replacing Zee TV in the week before KBC that is week 33 of TAM 2011. Now with the excellent performance of KBC and continued dream run for Bade Achche Lagte Hain, Sony is expected to stay at No.3 position for a long time.

Last season of Kaun Banega Crorepati had opened at 5.3 TVR in 3 metros according to the TAM mid-week data for the 42 of TAM 2010. At all India level, the last season of KBC had recorded a block-buster opening of 6.2 TVRs.
