Jethalal, played by veteran Gujarati actor Dilip Joshi, is the first male character to become the No. 1 on CIL since its inception in August 2009. Jethalal's share has seen a consistent growth from 1.5 % in the first track to 9.8%  in the seventh track.

Suhaana (Sasural Genda Phool) moves down to the No. 2 position in this track. Archana (Pavitra Rishta), Pratigya (Pratigya) and Anandi (Balika Vadhu) are at No. 3, 4 and 5 respectively.

This seventh track of the study was conducted during April this year. The interviews were conducted among 3477 respondents in six cities - Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Indore & Jalandhar, among 15-44 males and females, in SEC ABC.

The report lists the top fiction and non-fiction characters across gender, age, SEC and market segments. Further, a section of the report illustrates reasons for likeability of the top characters.

Characters India Loves is a quarterly study to measure the popularity of characters on Indian television. The study has been created and conducted by Ormax Media, India's first research and consulting firm specializing in the media and entertainment industry.
