Nitin Vaidya joins Star India as Business Head for its Hindi channels

He will be based out of Mumbai and will report in to Sanjay Gupta, COO, Star India.

Star India has announced the appointment of Nitin Vaidya as the Business Head – Hindi Channels, managing Star Plus, Star One, Star Gold and Star Utsav. Nitin will report to Sanjay Gupta, COO, Star India and will be taking up the position on an immediate basis.

Nitin's last assignment was Business Head - Zee TV and COO - National channels for Zee Network. Having started his career as a journalist in the 90s, Nitin brings with him vast experience of the media business.

Vaidya had quit Zee TV in October after an association of over 10 years with the group. Vaidya's tenure at Zee Group comprises many landmarks, including launching and later establishing Zee Marathi as number one channel and setting new benchmarks. He then successfully launched Zee Talkies as an exclusive cinema channel, which was unique for the Marathi genre. He also help set up the film production and distribution business in Marathi, which rewrote business paradigms and proved to be an unprecedented success. Vaidya further established Zee Bangla as a formidable force in the minds of viewers in Bengal. The flagship channel, Zee TV resurrected and achieved its past glory under Vaidya as COO of National channels.
