publive-imageCricketing tournaments, one after another, are proving to be nightmares for Hindi general entertainment channels. We saw the Cricket World Cup affecting the TRPs of Hindi GECs in a big way until a couple of weeks before. Now IPL seems to have its impact on the channels. According to the TAM data released for 16h week of 2011, almost all the leading Hindi GECs have lost GRPs.

India's No.1 Hindi GECs Star Plus has garnered 319 GRPs in the week 16 of TAM 2011 (334 GRPs last week). Star Plus bounced back last week as the No.1 GECs just after a week (week 14) during which it was pushed by Colors at No.2. Colors had dropped its inventories to combat with World Cup and became No.2 player for the 14th week of TAM 2011. Later on, Star Plus followed the same strategy to maintain its leadership. Media observers informed BestMediaInfo.com that Eh Rishta was completely break free for the whole week, hence there has been a surge in its ratings. Also, Star Plus' film GRPs on the weekend are increasing every week with the fact that its night movies carry a little inventory.

After losing 51 GRPs last week, Colors has again lost 31 GRPs in the week 16. It has recorded 218 GRPs (last week 249).

Zee TV has again gone below 200 GRPs by losing 24 GRPs this week. The channel has garnered 197 GRPs in week 16 (last week 221).

Sony Entertainment Television has also lost a few GRPs and recorded 146 GRPs in week 16 (last week 152).

SAB has recorded 135 GRPs in week 16 (last week 139). The comedy channel was pushed to No.5 position by Sony last week.

Against all the odds, the No.6 player Imagine TV has gained 10 GRPs this week. It has garnered 68 GRPs in 16th week (last week 58).

Star One has garnered 33 GRPs (last week 32). Sahara One is at 30 GRPs (last week 24).
