Ajay Vidyasagar has put in his papers at Sun TV Network as COO. He resigned from his position last week and currently serving his notice period. His next destination is not known as yet.

Highly placed industry sources have confirmed the development with BestMediaInfo.com. Vidyasagar had joined the Kalanithi Maran-promoted television network on 15th July 2009.

Prior to joining Sun TV Network, he was president at Star India where he spent 13 years at various positions.

Vidyasagar is credited with spearheading the launch of Kaun Banega Crorepati, part 2 and 3 as well as Star's new initiatives, including the channel Star One and tie-ups with brands like Disney and Hungama.

With more than two decades of experience in brand management and content creation, Vidyasagar had spent 7 years with Ogilvy & Mather before joining Star India.

He holds a BA degree from Madras University and has done post graduate certificate programmes from the Indian School of Business.

The South-Indian media group operates 20 television channels in the four south Indian languages, apart from 42 FM stations across the country. It also forayed into movie production and distribution last year and has distributed eight Kollywood movies so far.
