The compact daily from India Today Group finds third Associate Publisher in 3 years of its launch.

publive-imageAbhay Desai has put in his papers at Mail Today as Associate Publisher. He is serving his notice period till 31st December, 2010. However, his next destination remained unknown at the time of filing of the report.

The industry sources have confirmed the development with BestMediaInfo.com.

It is learnt that Mail Today has also found his successor in Varun Kohli who is joining next week as Associate Publisher. Varun comes in here from Navbharat Times. Varun will be the third Associate Publisher of Mail Today since its launch in 2007. The compact daily from India Today Group was launched under its first Associate Publisher Sanjay Bahadur who was replaced by Abhay Desai in October 2008.

Mail Today recently completed 3 years and crossed the landmark circulation of 2 lakh copies. The paper has average issue readership of 2.01 lakh readers according to the third quarter results of Indian Readership Survey.

Abhay joined the compact daily from the stable of India Today group in October 2008 to spearhead ad sales for the publication. Prior to joining Mail Today, Desai had spent a few months with Mumbai based tabloid Yuva as CEO for 6 months.

Desai had also worked with English daily DNA as General Manager. He joined DNA in 2005 spent 3 years with the newspaper. He started his career in print publication in 1999 with Hindustan Times where he held the position of DGM at the time of leaving the organization in 2004. Before Hindustan Times, Desai had spent 10 years in the automobile industry.
