publive-imageIn a year that has seen a constant stream of great talent joining Grey, Kavita Gadkari's appointment as Vice President, Planning will further strengthen the robust planning function at the Mumbai office. Kavita joins Grey from Stellar Search in Dubai where she single handedly led a successful entrepreneurial start-up. Prior to that she headed Strategy and Insights at Inca Tanvir Advertising, Sharjah, U.A.E.  In India, Kavita's planning career spanned over 15 years at FCB Ulka, Mumbai. With her formidable experience, Kavita is well positioned to provide strategic insights to Grey's clients in Mumbai.

Prestigious accounts handled during Kavita's planning tenure at FCB Ulka included Tata Motors, Amul, ITC, Wipro Consumer Products and Tata Internet Services. She was also responsible for winning the agency some key accounts like Unit Trust of India, Tata Corporate, Sundaram Home Finance (Chennai), Organon and Johnson and Johnson- Nizoral businesses. At FCB Ulka, Kavita worked in various divisions including FCBi, the direct advertising arm of the agency as well as the healthcare division.

Some of Kavita's noteworthy accomplishments during the early phase of her career were developing the positioning for Amul Ice Cream based on thorough qualitative research, Mind & Mood and product testing. The positioning “Real Milk. Real Ice Cream” has stood the test of time and continues to fuel the brand making it a formidable player in the ice cream market. Other achievements included convincing the client time and again to resist changing Santoor's (Wipro Consumer Products) promise of 'younger looking skin'. It is probably the only soap brand to keep to the same positioning platform for over a decade and now owns that position. She was also closely involved in rolling out FCB's much acclaimed 'blue-sky' projects of FCB Grid, Mind and Mood, Brand Relationship Style Monitor and Womanmood 2006 in India

The year has seen a lot of positive changes in the planning function at Grey India. A lot of high quality talent has been inducted and trained in the Brand Accelerator process which is the proprietary Grey planning tool which has lead to award winning work across regions. In addition, Bindu Sethi was appointed Chief Strategy Office in Asia Pacific, in recognition of her huge contribution to India and her un-paralleled strategic expertise and understanding of the consumer.

Said Bindu Sethi, Chief Strategy Officer, Grey Asia Pacific, “I am delighted to have Kavita join the planning team. With Kavita in Mumbai and Divyapratap Mehta in Delhi, I am looking forward to seeing great strategic insights leading to creating more famously effective advertising for our clients.” She adds, “Kavita's experience, accomplishments in business development as well as her people skills will add significant value to our clients businesses.”

Says Kavita, “I am pleased to join Grey at this exciting stage in their growth. I am particularly looking forward to working with Bindu on a wide range of clients across industries. I am also excited to be back in advertising. As the saying goes …once an advertising woman, always an advertising woman ! The buzz beckoned me back to this big and not-so-bad world of advertising.  I am driven by the passion of it all!”

Kavita is keenly interested in music, cinema and food. She is currently pursuing (or trying to) a doctoral degree in Hindustani Shastriya Sangeet. Cinema helps her understand cultural disparities across people and countries….something she loves mulling over. Food and cooking are her most effective de-stressors.
