Hindustan Media Ventures Limited, publishers of the leading Hindi daily Hindustan added Gorakhpur as its 8th print location in UP. This addition takes the number of its print locations in Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand to 9.

Hindustan has been on an expansion drive in the last few years. The last four years have seen a series of successful launches beginning with Meerut in February 2006, Agra in July and Kanpur in August of the same year. Dehradun was launched in May 2008. Allahabad in January and Bareilly in October featured in 2009.

The Gorakhpur print run of 1.1 lakh copies will be distributed in the city and surrounding areas. 8 sub-editions have been planned to deliver relevant news for the readers of Gorakhpur City and the districts of Gorakhpur, Basti, Deoria, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar and Sant Kabir Nagar. These editions will feature extensive localized coverage of the culturally rich and prosperous region of Purvanchal.

Hindustan has been the fastest growing newspaper in UP. In the recently released IRS Q3 2010 results, Hindustan has gained handsomely and today stands at a combined readership figure of 34.1 lakhs in UP and Uttrakhand. This is especially impressive as it has added far more readers than each of the older established players in the state. This expansion gives Hindustan an opportunity to print and increase the distribution of its publications in these 8 districts.

Announcing the launch of Gorakhpur Edition, Amit Chopra, CEO of HMVL said, “Gorakhpur is a city of great historical importance. Our expansion is a sign of our commitment to readers who, for long, have had a high regard for Hindustan and its standards of journalism. We will serve them and partner them in their journey to a better tomorrow. Our readers see change happen all around them, now they will be the change themselves. We at Hindustan firmly stand behind our promise of – Kuchh naya karenge, tabhi toh aage badhenge. We welcome the citizens of Gorakhpur and its surrounding districts to our ever-growing family of readers.”
