Midas Awards Announces The Midas Report

Unveils creative rankings in financial advertising & marketing.

The Midas Awards, founded in 2001, announced the creation of the “The Midas Report.” This newly launched annual report recognizes the most successful companies in the financial advertising and marketing communications industry, and uses a creative ranking system based on points earned within the Midas Awards competition.  “The Midas Report, 10 Year Anniversary,” a new report initiated this year, honors the most creative and accomplished companies throughout the history of the competition.

"Exceptional work deserves recognition; The Midas Report was created to provide a historical log ranking those deserving companies who have consistently demonstrated a dedicated commitment to innovative brand communications in the financial advertising and marketing community,” said Michael O'Rourke, President, International Awards Group.

The 2010 Midas Report includes:

2. McCann Erickson NY, USA | 30 points, and the King Midas Award recipient

3. King James, Cape Town, South Africa | 30 points

4. DDB, Johannesburg, South Africa | 24 points

5.Wiktor Leo Burnett,  Bratislava, Slovak Republic | 16 points

The Midas Report, Ten Year Anniversary includes:

1. The Jupiter Drawing Room, Johannesburg South Africa | 147 points

2. McCann Erickson, NY, USA | 142 points

3. Sedgwick Road, Seattle USA | 84 points

4. Citigroup/Citibank, Minneapolis USA | 83 points

5. BBDO NY, New York USA | 74 points

Midas Report points are calculated as follows:  King Midas Award, 9 points;  Gold Ingot Award, 6 points;  Silver Ingot Award, 4 points;  and Finalist, 1 point.

The Midas Awards honors advertising in banking, brokerage, insurance, mutual funds, and credit, in addition to real estate, accounting, and consulting.  The 2010 Midas Jury awarded McCann Erickson New York the prestigious 2010 King Midas Award for “The Priceless Gift Finder” for their client MasterCard Worldwide.  In addition, The Jupiter Drawing Room in South Africa was the most awarded agency in this year's competition, earning two Gold Ingots and five Silver Ingots.
